It grows throughout India. The pungent flower heads are chewed to relieve toothache, throat and gum infection, a good medicine for stammering children; tincture is applied on jawbones to treat the inflammation, stimulant. Plant extract in boiled water is given for dysentery, as diuretic, lithotriptic, as bath in rheumatism and in scabies. Plant extract pounded herb as poultice for wounds and roots as purgative.
