Annamalaiyar Temple

Annamalaiyar Temple is located at a distance of 8 km from Yercaud Lake in the village of Thalaisolai, it is a popular vantage point. The Temple is built at a height of 1400 metres. Annamalaiyar Temple is a beautiful Shiva Temple with a single tower sculpted with colourful idols. Also it has a pyramid-like lamp tower which is painted bright in red. The lamp tower is lit on all full moon days in the evenings. This is the best time to visit this view point as one can enjoy the ritual as well.

The Annamalaiyar Temple, reminds tourists of Thiruvannamalai which is situated 100 miles further in Tamilnadu. It has no connection with the popular Siva temple renowned for its grand festival – Karthigai Deepam. It appears to share the same ritual of lighting the lamp on a full moon day. This will be similar to Thiruvannamalai Deepam that is lit on Annamalai Hill. The temple is a simple yet beautiful structure with one small and moderate towers decorated with idols. The idols are painted in various colors. Also the courtyard of the temple has a nice manicured lawn.
